Launch of a coalition

In July 2012, at the International AIDS Conference in Washington, and on the eve of World Hepatitis Day, Médecins du Monde and Treatment Action Group published a call to action for universal and affordable access to hepatitis C diagnostics, treatment, and care by leading HIV, HCV, and access to medicines civil society groups. A webpage is developed to host and gather organizations’ endorsements of this “Washington call”.

Outcomes

The Washington call is undersigned by more than 110 organisations from 35 countries. some of them decide to conduct joint advocacy campaigns (MdM, TAG, ITPC-Mena, the HIV/AIDS alliance Ukraine, APN+, I-Mak, DNP+, Health Gap, MSF et INPUD).

Supported by a website

A year after, in the continuum of the Washington call, a website –hepCoalition.org – is set up. This new multilingual tool aims to support the global advocacy movement. It is conceived as a platform to promote sharing of information, strategies, educational and advocacy tools, experiences, and other resources for strengthening the access movement.

Outcomes

The site, launched in July 2013, hosts more than a hundred multilingual articles, the coalition’s advocacy campaigns, publications from MdM and TAG and some partners. Website visits have increased over the years and, today, hepCoalition.org has an average of 280 visits per day.

Personal involvement

Project management of the web site: conception of its structure, coordination with the web designer on the graphic and technical aspects.  Writing and editing of the articles, coordinating translations and posting articles online in 6 languages.
