Launch of an online global data base on hepatitis C, mapCrowd.org
mapCrowd is an online crowdsourcing platform designed to gather and publicize the most up-to-date country-level information on HCV. Providing free access to national, regional, and international data, mapCrowd allows users to draw visual comparisons between countries, using interactive graphs, tables, and maps. mapCrowd aims to enhance HCV information and advocacy worldwide. mapCrowd has been co-developed by MdM and TAG and launched in February 2016 in the same 6 languages as hepCoalition.org.
Outcomes
Data originates from a combination of literature reviews and field-based sources. 76 voluntary focal points/”mapCrowders” update data for the Country in which they work. MdM and TAG have produced two mapCrowd reports in January and July 2016.
Personal involvement
At the initiative of the project, management from its creation to its launch online, co-writing of the questionnaire, conception of the maps, liaising with the web developer, translators, outreach and contact with « mapCrowder » focal points in the countries, monitoring regular countries updates co-analysis and co-writing and layout of expert reports, dissemination to the media, partners and institutional actors.
