Afghan Drug User Group (ADUG)

ADUG is a self-support organization created by community leaders who were working as outreach workers and peer educators at Médecins du Monde Harm Reduction program in Kabul. The aim of ADUG is to promote the scale-up of harm reductions services and respect of PUD’s rights in Afghanistan.

Outcomes

ADUG was supported in addition to Médecins du Monde by MEHHARA and ITPC. ADUG ran advocacy activities both at national level organization of a public demonstration for the World Aids Day in 2010, publication of a human rights violation reports) as well as advocacy activities at international level (IAC Vienna in 2010 and Washington 2012, UNAIDS OCB, 2011). Media work with national journalist (interview to national TV and articles in the newspaper).

Personal involvement

Media training to ADUG’s members, graphic design of ADUG’s logo and leaflet, as well as graphic design of stickers (we want treatment, not punishment), coordination of a community mobilization workshop at MdM’s Drop-in center.
